How to order Hydrometer Calibrations
Please read the important infomation below before sending your instrument for calibration.
Temperature and scale
If you are an infrequent user of the hydrometer to be calibrated, and are uncertain as to temperature at which the instrument needs to be calibrated, we recommend that you contact us, and a member of our staff will advise.
If ordering new hydrometers, you should specify the scale you wish your instrument to use. Commonly used scales are g/ml or kg/m3, but we can also calibrate other, less frequently used scales such as °API, °Brix, °Baume, and °Twaddle. Again, please contact us, and a member of our staff will advise you.
Packing and transportation
Hydrometers are delicate precision instruments and need adequate protection when entrusted to either courier or postal services. Please ensure that you pack them carefully. If you have any doubts on how to do this please contact us for advice.
If the hydrometer has been used in conjunction with any hazardous liquids, please inform us of this when sending the instrument. Please ensure that the hydrometer is clean and free of residue. Should we have to clean the instrument prior to calibration, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee.
Hazardous materials include chemical (e.g. strong acid or alkali), biological (e.g. blood, urine) or any radioactive material.
